World's Leading IT Industry Associations Reach Accord On
Global Information Society Policy Issues
October 31, 1996, Napa, California- The world's leading information
technology industry associations completed work today on policy
recommendations to stimulate the realization of a Global Information
Society.
These recommendations, or common views papers, were adopted
by the group at the conclusion of this week's International
Information Industry Congress (IIIC) in Napa Valley, California.
They cover the following issues:
Enabling Electronic Commerce -- discusses the requirements for
successful international electronic commerce:
cryptography policy;
acceptance of electronic proofs;
digital signatures;
and electronic contracts and receipts.
